Slowing The Memory Train Down When Decorating For Christmas

The hustle and bustle of preparing for Christmas sometimes leaves individuals so hurried that they forget the true reason behind decorating for the holidays.

Granted, between keeping up with everyday life, purchasing gifts and preparing the home for those holiday gatherings is a chore, everyone should still take the time to memorialize what the family and season stands for through their decorations in their home. This can be done in a number of ways, but one of the best is to display photos, ornaments or any other project that is handmade by any member of the family.

There always those small and little crafts that comes home with the kids or grandkids and can be proudly displayed to finish off that festive spirit.

Photos are an all time favorite and should be incorporated into the Christmas décor. Some of the cutest projects come through a little creativity and time spent making a project happen. Anything from small cut outs with family faces on them to photos of the kids dressed as Elves make a great way to announce the season. Such as using a template of a small child to trace onto construction paper and then carefully cutting out a photo of the child's face and gluing it on to the construction cutout.

By making several of these they can be draped from door frames, mantles or cabinets as a piece of garland. Other items such as beading, bells or other cutouts can be added on the strand as well to dress it up. Not only is this a personalized way of decorating it can also be made into family time that is affordable and fun.

Some mothers have decided to allow their children to help them decorate for the holidays. Children love to make items such as gingerbread men, popcorn garland and other items that can be placed on the Christmas tree or simply around the home itself. This speaks volumes about the family themselves and also helps them prepare for that big Christmas holiday. There is not a store bought decoration one that can ever compete with what family members have made by hand. The love, creativity and uniqueness can never be replicated and are absolutely priceless.

Of course they are also more affordable and with the already stretched budgets at Christmas time is a great way to decorate. Anything is possible and decorating does not have to the store bought. Grab a crafting catalog or magazine and let your imagination run wild with ways to make Christmas the best!
